Marnie L. Brennan BVMS, PhD, PGCHE, DECVPH

Regional Officer | International (2023-2029)

Marnie graduated from Murdoch University in Australia and spent time in mixed practice before coming to the UK to locum and travel. It was here she got involved in the foot and mouth disease outbreak in 2001, which changed the course of her career as she developed an interest in field epidemiology. After conducting a PhD at the University of Liverpool, she joined the University of Nottingham. Marnie is Associate Professor in Epidemiology and a European and RCVS Recognised Specialist in Epidemiology. She directs the Centre for Evidence-based Veterinary Medicine, a research and knowledge exchange centre working with the veterinary professions (vets and nurses) to conduct research targeted to the needs of clinical practice whilst providing training and resources for undergraduates and post-registration professionals. This permits her to get involved in all manner of evidence-based activities which she loves and is the reason she joined the EBVMA in 2009. Marnie’s specific areas of interest include study design, both from a creation (research) and assessment (appraisal) perspective, and research approaches focused on involving stakeholders. She also has a special interest in preventive medicine, particularly biosecurity, within a range of animal settings.
