Sheila Keay DVM MBA MPH PhD
I’m an Ontario Veterinary College, Canada 1996 graduate and began my veterinary career as a corporate veterinarian working with two international swine breeding stock companies. I’ve lived and worked across four countries, on three continents, and in various capacities; as a research technician, a livestock animal health manager, a technical veterinarian with big pharma, and as a veterinary inspector, researcher, and sometimes epidemiologist with two Canadian Federal Agencies. I returned three times to graduate school, motivated each time after recognizing a ceiling in my understanding. My first exposure to evidence-based methods was with the Public Health Agency of Canada. It was the motivation to pursue a PhD in epidemiology with a focus on knowledge translation. Through all of this I gained a profound appreciation of the benefits of evidence based veterinary infrastructure. I currently work with the Operations Branch of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
I joined the EBVMA in 2016. I wanted to be part of building a knowledge translation ecosystem to help veterinarians stay current and manage uncertainty in veterinary medicine.
